CyGen - Procedural City in 3D

Description

Those are first testrenders using CyGen for Maya.
It's a python program I've been working on since the last two weeks and I'll be working on it for a while ...

What you see is a demo city, generated from a couple of simple splines on a polygonal plane using edge replacement algorithms. A brief description is available on my website: [link]

The program is a work in progress.
For now you actually only see one building type variated several times with the program.
I'm currently working on a procedural texturing process that will apply materials on the fly ...
After that I'll start adding more building types and a algorithm that blends those types together to create subspecies allowing even more variation.
More stuff to come ...

Some facts:
- work time: 5 minutes (drawing splines, using an existing lighting scene)
- generation time: 20 minutes (drinking coffee, eating cake, ... )
- rendertime: 15 minutes (some more coffee, some more cake, ...)
- generated unique buildings: 288
- generated polygons: 2.33 Millions
- instances in Maya: 6
- total amount of Polygons: 14 Millions
- total amount of Fun: a lot
- RAM: 12 GB
- CPU: Dual Dual Core 2.4 Ghz (Maya only uses one core :S )

I've created a Research & Development section for CyGen on my website: [link]
I'll keep on adding updates there ...

Best Regards,

Dan
